Council
The VSA Council is the legislative body of the VSA. Made up of the class and residence presidents, Council certifies student organizations, creates policies and legislation of the VSA and approves fund allocations and budgeting. The VSA Executive Board sets agendas and the VSA President chairs meetings. Each member of Council also serves on one of the four standing Council Committees: Academics, Activities, Finance and Student Life. Members of council also serve on the Appointments and Constitutional Review Committee. Council meets weekly, on Sunday nights in the College Center MPR at 7 PM. The meetings are open to all students, minutes are public and agenda items may be brought by any student.
Frequently Asked Questions about Attending VSA Council Meetings
VSA Council—the legislative wing of the Vassar Student Association comprised of residence and class presidents, along with the Executive Board—is an open forum for all students. It meets in the College Center multipurpose room at 7 p.m. every Sunday when school is in session. Each week's agenda is posted at least 24 hours ahead of time on the VSA Web site, and each meeting concludes with an "open discussion" segment where any student can raise issues of concern. Still, coming to Council can seem intimidating.
