Golden Krust Bakery and Grill is a bakery/restaurant franchise featuring an authentic Caribbean menu. The Poughkeepsie location offers the famous, gold-crusted Jamaican Patties in soy (tofu), vegetable, (hot) beef, shrimp, curry chicken and meatloaf varieties, each for under $1.50. Sweet and sour chicken, curry chicken, jerk chicken, brown stew chicken, codfish and callaloo and oxtail entrees are also available with a choice of rice and peas or white rice and sides of plantain and steamed cabbage. Freshly squeezed carrot and tangerine juices, Ting, D&G Jamaican soft drinks and others are also available. The Golden Crust seats fifteen persons comfortably in their no frills dining area but their business seems to come mostly from takeout and catering jobs.
