Exploring the Hudson Valley: Julie's Restaurant
Julie's Restaurant

Julie Anemelos, the owner and operator of Julie’s Restaurant on Raymond Avenue, runs an unpretentious Greek diner which has become a favorite of Vassar students. Breakfast is served all day: you can enjoy Blueberry Pancakes ($5.25) with a choice of meat. Beef and lamb gyros ($7.25) are also a specialty here. A large, warm piece of pita bread was piled high with meat, slivers of onion and tomatoes - all drizzled with a sweet-and-tangy housemade tzatziki sauce. Julie's offers a complete breakfast, lunch and dinner menu as well as full catering. This is a family-owned and operated business that welcomes frequent customers back by name.
The diner also serves a variety of omelettes, breakfast wraps, pancakes, and French toast, as well as hearty sides like corned beef hash, Canadian bacon, and homemade muffins (the Sunday brunch is always tasty too). Julie’s popular gyros — lamb and beef, or chicken — are garnished with homemade Tzatziki sauce; the Greek salad is full of feta cheese and kalamata olives; even the meatball sandwich uses Greek-style meatballs.
