Exploring the Hudson Valley: Pete's Famous Restaurant
Pete's Famous Restaurant
For American diner fare only steps away from campus during intersession or when you just can’t face the Deece, Pete’s is your best bet. Pete’s serves breakfast all day and will even pack up takeout for you to shelp back to your pals at Vassar. The prices are unbelievably reasonable and the service is generally quick. Breakfast specials are served until 11:00 a.m. daily and include choices such as toast, pancakes, muffins, home fries, eggs, assorted breakfast meats, juice and coffee. Specials will run you between $3.95 and $5.35. An egg or cheese sandwich is $1.75.
Besides breakfast, there is a selection of subs, sandwiches, salads and seafood (mostly fried) available. Pete’s is not for the conscientious dieter but it definitely fits the bill for those who want to grab something quick to go or who need sustenance for an all-nighter. I tried Pete’s last winter break to save myself the horror of my own scrambled eggs and had to share with friends: Pete’s portions are huge. The diner is open from 6:00 a.m. daily and accepts vCard.
