Waryas Park
About
Need a break from the usual lunch at ACDC? Try picnicking on the Hudson in Waryas Park! Located at the end of Main Street in Poughkeepsie, the park offers a view of the Hudson River and two historical bridges, a concession stand (closed when we were there), a weird humongous tree that apparently swallowed a building because it has bricks embedded in it, plus swings (yes, that’s Brooke falling-jumping off).
Got a kayak? You can launch it there from the floating dock. There’s also a skateboard park, operated by the Dutchess County YMCA, open Monday through Friday from 4 to 8 and weekends from 2 to 8 ($3 entrance fee).
The park, open from 7am to 9pm, is a great place to get inspired, or just hang out with friends.
