End of the Year Wrap-Up

Happy Spring!
Spring means flowers, green grass, warmth, and sunshine. It also means the closing of spring semester here at Vassar College and the end of a truly remarkable year for the Vassar Greens. We had so many accomplishments and achieved so many goals! Here is a short overview of our many actions this school year.
Events:
- 10:10:10 – a global day of doing
- Do It in the Dark – a candle-lit concert for energy awareness
- Tapped movie screening
- Group building activities: game night and parties
- Earth Week celebration events
Campaign Accomplishments
- Tap That water forum
- Tap That bottled water sales and golden ticket competition
- Tap That VSA bylaw banning VSA funds for bottled water passed
- Tap That article in the Miscellany News
- On Campus Zero-Waste Free Market opening
- On Campus Zero-Waste Post Office paper mail opt-out
- Incinerator Campaign public forum speeches in October
- Incinerator Campaign protesting at an RRA meeting in February
General Accomplishments
- We brought 30 people to Power Shift 2011
- Exec board/leadership roles expanded from 4 to 14 people
- Held 10 trainings in skills like campaign planning, facilitation, leadership development, and anti-oppression
- Had strong, consistent membership
- Developed our new media presence: Facebook, Twitter, and this Website!
Miscellany News Articles
Thank you to everyone who supported us and to all the Greens members! This truly has been an amazing, productive year, and our momentum is only getting stronger. As we say goodbye to our amazing Co-Presidents Ethan Buckner and Moey Newbold, we are looking ahead to next year with SO many more, amazing things in store for us, Vassar, and the greater Poughkeepsie community. Let’s keep creating real and meaningful change!
