Vassar's Sesquicentennial is rapidly approaching, and to honor 150 years of our rich history, the College community is planning programming on and off campus to commemorate the Vassar experience and to recognize the unique qualities about Vassar that it make it so special to its graduates.

On campus, our sesquicentennial celebration will begin following students’ return from Winter Break. The first weeks back at Vassar will be packed with events, the largest of which will be the all-College Sesquicentennial Birthday Party on Feb. 3, starting with remarks and a performance in the Martel Theater and ending with a reception in the College Center, which will feature birthday cakes baked in the shape of buildings on Vassar’s campus. To add a competitive and interactive edge to the reception, we are asking students to contribute their own baked creations to the birthday cake display. The finished products will be displayed at the reception and judged by a panel of alumnae/i jurists in a Sesquicentennial Birthday Bake-Off.

Think you have what it takes to win the Bake-Off? Apply as an individual or join a team of friends, housemates, or classmates to attempt to assemble the best Vassar-themed birthday cake. In partnership with the All-Campus Dining Center, the College will help provide cooking materials and goods. To enter, submit a description of your proposed cake—along with contact information, team members, and materials needed—to sesqui.committee@gmail.com by Dec. 10.
