forecast: revolution

//what is the catalyst// The catalyst is a zine published about 4 times a year. The catalyst is free of charge and free of advertising, committed to the idea that all art and ideas are public, and should be shared with all for the benefit of all. Produced by an autonomous editor's collective, the catalyst consists of articles, poems, essays, stories, and the like submitted by writers, as well as a variety of artwork submitted by artists. In addition to original works, the catalyst is dedicated to liberating copyrighted, licensed, and patented works from the bondage of private and intellectual property.

//why does the catalyst do what it does?// the catalyst believes in DIY activism and a DIY lifestyle. we don't need to be pawns of the global machinary. we can do what we love, when we want to do it, and noone can stop us. no, we don't do it for the fame or the chicks. we do it because we want to. if you want to do it, then, fuck, c'mon!

//where is the catalyst// formally, the catalyst is published in poughkeepsie, ny at vassar college. the catalyst can be wherever you feel the need to say what you want to say. we feel the catalyst is in our minds and souls.

//who is the catalyst// with fear of being repetitive, we want to reiterate that the catalyst can be whoever embraces a sweeping feeling of justice, creativity, and emotion. specifically, the catalyst is a collective of men and womyn who take sick pleasure in paper and tape construction. the collective is open to all that wish to be a part of it (with expection of FBI infiltrators...go away!). to learn more about the current collective, see below:

coming soon...

//here it is//the catalyst website, a work in progress (or not progress, depending on who you are), is fully operational (insert darth vader voice here). simple in design, yes, but hopefully our words, ideas, and art can create a complexity thought in the minds of those that stumble onto this site.

//back issues// ok, so here is the heart and soul of this page, the back issues. remember the one sheet issue 1? well, if you don't we have it here. don't seem to have your 140 page issue 5 handy? we will have the articles here for you to reference. ok...so we lied a bit when we said the death sta...we mean catalyst....was fully operational. bear with us while we get our shit together and the catalysts posted.

//wanna know// in case you were burning with desire to know what the collective has been looking at online, and are yearning to read their analysis of current events, take a gander at the catalyst weblog, which the collective may actually learn how to use someday.

//how to go about getting the catalyst// this website is NOT the actual zine, the catalyst. this site is intended to act as a resource for back issues of the zine and as yet another place to guide you towards other cool sites in the mess that is the internet. to fully appreciate the catalyst, the collective suggests that you sign up to receive the print version. fill out this form, and you will receive your new issue when it is published. we do not charge, and will not charge, but if you would like to donate postage, that would be cool.

//submit to the catalyst// the catalyst is always looking for submissions: articles, poems, artwork, stories, plays...you get the idea. feminism, veganism, anti-globalization, anti-racism, anti-prison industrial complex, pro-a new world...we accept it all. even if you think that your beliefs are not that of the collective, please submit. we are not looking to put out a stroke me book, where everyone agrees, and no one is challenged. challenge us and challenge you. to submit mail submissions to the catalyst.
