Welcome to the Measure 4 Measure website!

Measure 4 Measure, one of Vassar's two all-female a cappella groups, was founded in 1981 by a few renegade Night Owls, who opted to sing a new and more contemporary repertoire. Today, after almost thirty years, we continue our tradition of bringing the voices of women together to produce a wide variety of music. Our repertoire includes classic favorite artists, such as The Beach Boys, Tracy Chapman, Bill Withers, and Fleetwood Mac. More recent additions include songs by Queen, Whitney Houston, Regina Spektor, and Zap Mama. We arrange all of our own musical numbers, and we record a CD every few years. Measure 4 Measure sings for various events on campus and for many kinds of organizations and performances, and we also travel to perform at other colleges in the Northeast and for events in the community. Recently, M4M travelled to Dartmouth College and to Boston to sing at the annual Head of the Charles regatta. In our free time, the women of Measure 4 Measure enjoy singing phrases like "shoo bee doop shi wada wada," besting our male a cappella comrades with our mad beat boxing skills, and playing outside.
