National Student Day of Action to Fight Climate Change Injustice
March 27, 2009
Washington, DC
On March 27th, a group of students will be converging on the Capitol to meet with our senators and present a case for climate change legislation, and more specifically, funding for climate change adaptation. The effects of climate change are already being felt across the globe, and it’s the poorest nations and the most vulnerable communities who are being hurt the most. In our congressional meetings, we will ask our senators to address the disproportionate impacts of global warming by creating equitable solutions to the crisis. Our goal is to demand that the US cut greenhouse gas emissions, and provide financial assistance so that the most vulnerable communities can adapt.
Please join us! Register today and on March 27th you can take an active role democracy and help to create needed change in our government’s policies.
All participants will undergo a training and preparation process that includes:
- Participation in at least one conference call in the weeks leading up to the lobby day.
- A short training that will cover effective lobbying skills and an overview of our “ask” on the morning of March 27th.
- Calling to make an appointment with your senators if you are the first person to register from your state (we will walk you through this process).
