Guide to the VSA Structure

Overview

Cabinet: Advisory body comprised of office and division heads

President: Oversees all external operations in the VSA. Chairs the Cabinet.
Vice President: Oversees all internal operations of the VSA and maintains governance. Chairs Internal Affairs.
Equity Executive: Ensures all actions taken by the VSA have equity and inclusion in mind.
Sustainability Executive: Ensures all actions taken by the VSA consider climate responsibility and sustainability.
Wellness Executive: Ensures all actions taken by VSA consider health and wellness.

Director of Services: Oversees VSA Services such as VCycle, VSafe, Weekend Shuttle, and more!
Director of Finance: Manages and disburses the funds of VSA, chairs Allocations Committee.
Director of Student Events: Oversees events run by VSA such as Halloweekend and Founder’s Day.
Director of Student Organizations: Manages all student orgs, chairs Organizations Committee.
Director of Communications: In charge of VSA communications such as social media, posters, emails and the VSA website.

Senate: Legislative body comprised of senators focused on advocacy

Ranking Members: Senior most senator of a committee in the senate, & chair of the committee they have seniority in.
Senators: Elected members of the senate that comprise the committee & have the power to write Bills and Amendments.

6 Standing Committees of the the Senate

Allocations: Focuses on allocating all the funds of the VSA to orgs, offices and more.
Organizations: Focuses on certifying all student organizations, allocating spaces, and any general org logistics.
Academic Affairs: Centers on concerns of academic life from the NRO to registration.
Student Financial Affairs: Focuses on matters concerning financial aid and student labor.
Internal Affairs: Maintains smooth internal operation of VSA including governance, crisis management, and more.
Residential Affairs: Centers on living at Vassar from dining to dorm life.

Elections Commission: Electoral body overseeing elections

Chair of Elections: Oversees all Elections Commission functions and chairs the Elections Commission's meetings.
Vice Chair of Elections: Help run elections and oversee voting software.
Class Commissioner: Support the chair and vice chair in their initiatives.

Judicial Council: Judicial body that arbitrates disputes between organizations or officials, ensures compliance with VSA governance

Chief Justice: Chairs the Judicial Council and reviews bills, resolution and arbitrates elections dispute.
Class Justice: Elected members of the judicial council that represent their class during all judicial council.
